Time graph for Chair Dancing Through the Decades
You get a lively workout without leaving your chair. By moving the large muscles in your arms and feet, you’ll burn calories and strengthen your heart. It’s an upbeat medley of varied music and interesting movements loosely based on sixty years of dance (e.g. Charleston, Swing and Big Band through New Age and Hip Hop). Filmed on a bright, multi-level set, these exercisers are just having fun — moving to the music and getting fit. Jodi Stolove has been teaching chair-workouts for years; she clearly knows how to motivate and energize her “all sizes and all shapes” class (while always providing lots of easier/harder modifications). ©2002. Chair Dancing Around the World
This video is lively, colorfull, energetic and fun! fun! fun! I hope to buy more for gifts. Its great to see older men and children in the video, too. - posted by Dreana on 4/28/2008
Love the entire Chair Dancing series!
I recently tore ligaments in my ankle and was told to stay off it for up to 12 weeks. I wanted to be able to do some sort of exercise, if for nothing else, to lift my spirits. The Chair Dancing series is exactly what I was looking for. They are fun and able to modify around an injury. - posted by Injured on 1/21/2008
No more feeling inadequate
Hi, I have never found a routine that I can actually keep up with. I have osteo-arthritis. Feet joints are deteriorated due to aerobic exercising. I am overweight but very athletic. Finally a work-out that does not make me feel inadequate and more physically challenged than I already am. The different levels encourages me to strive harder. I am now using 2-lb hand weights to keep my heart rate up. My goal is to get the entire set of Chair Dancing DVD's so I can alternate days and not get bored. Thank you Jodi Stolove and all the people creating this DVD. - posted by Audrey on 1/5/2008
I injured myself
I injured myself and I couldn't do my usual exercises. I was looking for something I could do that was gentle yet effective while i heal from my leg injury. The dvd is for those new to exercise or rehabbing from a Injury. I really like it. It does get your heart rate up and the participants in the dvd work at various levels.thanks. Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Specialty: Seated Exercises
X
Workouts especially created for anyone who prefers to work out while seated. They may include all three basic exercise types: aerobics, toning and stretch.
