Time graph for Core Cross Train Kickbox
Expertly led by Patricia Moreno, each move has a subtle intensity and quiet effectiveness. You’ll burn mega-calories as you increase balance, strength and grace. Every motion really does originate from your center (e.g. a punch isn’t just a flailing arm; it’s a core-based movement that’s both powerful and purposeful). The workouts become progressively more challenging. The first one is basic punches; the last one is “choreographed” kickboxing combos (all taught add-on style, so the sequencing is natural and easy to follow). It’s filmed outdoors in the high desert of Arizona. DVD also has a bonus 14-minute toning/stretch workout. ©2007. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Core Cross Train Kickbox

Awesome!
I tried this DVD several times about a year ago but was unable to get completely through it. It just ended up on my shelf. I took it out yesterday and forced myself to get through the core training section. I made sure to keep my form just as she taught and let me tell you....my abs along with the rest of my body are so completely sore! I feel like I got a total body workout from this DVD. - posted by Becky on 5/15/2009
I finally get it!
I finally get what other kick boxing instructors wanted me to do very well taught I love this workout alot. - posted by Rachel on 4/29/2009
tae bo has NOTHING on this tape
I love kickboxing but was disappointed after buying a few of Billy Blanks' Tae Bo DVDs (compared to his old workouts from the late 90s, they are awfully cued and the workouts aren't that fun or fast). Patricia Moreno's kickboxing DVD, however, is amazing - it has just the right amount of kicking, punching and core focus that I like. She starts slow but then builds the pace and I definitely am sweaty by the end of the tape. Her cueing is perfection and she never misses a beat. Every time I complete this tape I'm slightly sore the next day and I've noticed that my whole body is tightening up from it - very happy! - posted by jill on 4/19/2009
More than I expected
I love kickboxing, and normally, I look for videos that really get my heart pumping and make me feel like, "Wow, that was a workout." This video is not one of those hardcore, tough workouts. However, this video was more than I expected. I have done kickboxing for several years, and have found it's easy to fall into "bad" habits where you forget your form. This video is a good refresher of why I got into kickboxing in the first place, and when you do it right, you still get a good workout. It reminds you to slow down and really tap into your core for the movements. Patricia is so incredibly strong and inspirational, that it puts the mind/body connection back into the workout. I didn't expect this one to be one of my favorites, but I continually go back to it when I feel out of balance with my workout. - posted by Merry M. on 2/13/2009
Maybe ok for beginners
I was VERY disappointed in these dvds. The instructor just keeps talking on and on...It was not fast paced enough. If you have ANY kickboxing experience you will not like this workout - posted by Pam on 1/1/2009
This is a good one
I REALLY like this workout. I can feel my core 2-3 days after doing it. If people aren't feeling it, they are not following her guidelines for proper form. Strengthening the core does have spiritual and emotional benefits also, and I like that she references the "empowerment factor" here. This is what I would call a "mind, body, spirit" workout, without it saying so (not many people ready for that), that really kicks butt. Its a keeper-highly recommended. - posted by Theresa on 12/8/2008
Eh...
I wanted to get a kickboxing DVD to do at home since it's hard for me to get to the gym with my little one. After giving it a few tries, this one is retired to the back of my DVD cabinet. As others have said, I could not keep my heart rate up; the intesity just wasn't there for me. I also couldn't take the non-stop talking by Patricia. She seems nice enough, but we don't need her to fill up the entire video with her chatter. - posted by Gina on 12/5/2008
Some pros, lots of cons
When I sat to write this review, I had a hard time figuring out how to rate the DVD. On the one hand, I enjoyed some of the segments and did break a great sweat, but overall there were too many problems with this. First, the technical issues...You can't fast forward through the instructor's intro before the punching segment! Try it, and the DVD will stop (in my player, anyway) and you have to start over. She babbles on and on, and listening to that EVERY SINGLE TIME is infuriating. I don't like the no "play all" option, as I have to stop between segments to choose the next one. You can't maintain your heartrate that way. Of course, this was so slow-paced that my heart only jumped when I was doing the combinations in the final segment. The moves are good, but she over-explains them and never stops talking. Not once! - posted by Jamie on 11/19/2008
I am liking it so far
Today I did two of the workouts sections punches and kicks, and so far so good. I did feel like there was a little of uneven reps especially in the kicking workout. It did make me sweat more than other videos but the sweat factor is nonimportant to me so I really don't care if a workout makes me sweat or not but how it makes me feel during the workout and afterwards. This workout felt great, it left me feeling accomplished exercise wise. I can't wait to tackle the rest of the workout sections and based on my experience with the two workouts I did today, I know they are going to be just as good and invigorating. - posted by nina on 11/10/2008
Just adding...
The "Bonus Power Workout", clocking in at around 14 minutes, is a great segment for strengthening your entire core. Patricia, as always, is calm and motivating and the music in this section is wonderful. - posted by RedPanda on 10/23/2008

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
