Time graph for Crunch: Super-Charged Kickbox Party
By Jeanette Jenkins, you get a motivating mix of powerful kickboxing and Jamaican-style island dance. It’s a combination that really works — the faster/slower intervals provide an aerobic/anaerobic element while the movement variety keeps you energized (a tough kickboxing segment is followed by an easier dance section). The kickbox routines include jumping jacks and kick-punch combos that engage the entire body as they blast fat (they’re true “combinations,” not just endless jabs or punches). The shorter dance segments have a softer feel, with low-impact step touches and lots of hip action. ©2007. DVD has: Chapter menus, Close captions.

Crunch: Super-Charged Kickbox Party

Fun mix of dance and kickboxing
I had a great time sweating with this one. Jeanette is a lot of fun and I was able to follow the workout through the first time. I sweated, danced and kickboxed my way to a good cardio burn. Definitely a party in a box workout for me. - posted by Elaine on 10/8/2008
5 star all around
This is a kick box workout. Its not too severe, just right for an intermediate. Theres diversity of the moves, yet you can catch on after seeing it a little bit. There are also dance moves, again, diverse, yet not too complicated. The cueing is very, very good in this one. I have many other dvds to compare this too, the firm and prevention, so that is why I say I'm intermediate. The music is good. The clip on here is exactly the intensity of the whole workout. - posted by barbara on 9/3/2008
Hey, I liked it!
Seems like I'm in the minority but I like this workout. The time goes fast because it is sectioned off well, and to me, the mixture of a few dance moves with kickboxing was new and different. She's a good instructor and the design of the workout, that is, the structure of it is good! Like doing 5-6 different combos for 6 or 10 minutes rather than doing one endlessly. I always wear a heart rate monitor and am in great shape. This workout burns 600-700 calories per hour when I do it, like some of Tae Bo workouts or step, so I do it in my rotation once a week now. - posted by Robin K on 8/1/2008
Annoying instructor
I went around 20 minutes into this workout, and never completed it because I found the instructor and background exercisers to be annoying. I also did not want to spend the time learning the moves. - posted by Barbara on 7/27/2008
A Potentially Good Workout Falls Flat
The positive aspect of this workout is that the instructor was pretty good. She was motivating without being annoying. However, I didn't care for the pairing of kickboxing with dance moves which lessened the intensity. - posted by Marie on 6/11/2008
Strange combination
I like Jeanette, her kickboxing is good but mixing it with dance moves dropped the intensity and left me confused. One section is nothing but hip shaking and pivoting in circles, really pointless. However Jeanette manages to get the HR back up at the end with some good kicking combos. I got through it, I worked up a sweat but I would never want to do it again. She has better videos out there. - posted by LB on 4/28/2008
annoying
Very disappointing. Not that challenging, and dance/kickboxing combination didn't really work for me. The instructor is suffering from terminal perkiness, and the background exercisers' attempts to be "street" are embarrassing. - posted by karen on 3/29/2008
A fun workout but not hard enough
This workout is fun, has some funky music and there are some good cardio elements to get your heartrate up eg: jumping jacks but overall, a 'light' workout if you are an advanced exerciser. Jeanettte has a down to earth, fun personality. Yes, her cueing is not the best but the moves are not hard to pick up. What annoys me most is the background exercisers, they seem to try too hard to be cool and like they're having a fun time but they just look fake. Overall, a good workout to have in your collection for a lighter workout in between the more hardcore session. - posted by Karen on 3/21/2008
Good Workout But....
This was an enjoyable work-out, and for this long-time intermediate exerciser, I definitely felt "exercised" after I was done. However, I agree with other posters who found this a bit hard to follow. I don't reject buying it, but some of the steps are definitely a little tricky and the mixing of dance and kick-boxing isn't totally natural. - posted by Julie on 3/17/2008
Felt stilted
I didn't like this video. The movements felt stilted and didn't seem to flow. I had been very excited to get this video, but ended up disappointed. I kept looking at the clock to see when it would end. - posted by D.J. on 3/11/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
