Time graph for Gilad's Express Workouts
This two-DVD set features a varied mix of exercises and techniques. Gilad’s straight-forward cuing is both friendly and effective — he always lets you know what to do and why (e.g. “now watch what happens as we bend …”). Both DVDs are divided into 8 to 10-minute segments; each one targets a specific area or uses a specific workout style. The first program is all muscle toning. It “blasts” each body part with a no-nonsense medley of traditional, weight-room-style routines. The second workout includes newer training methods like Pilates, multi-planar and compound exercises. It also incorporates easy-to-follow cardio moves ranging from kickboxing to simple grapevines. Filmed on a sunny, oceanside deck. Requires 2 to 10 lb. dumbbells. ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Gilad's Express Workouts

Very Enjoyable
I recently ordered Gilad's Express Workouts and I am very impressed and motivated! I find Gilad to be very supportive, encouraging and "too the point" with his style of instruction. I have other exercise DVDs but I have not been so motivated to work out as I have with the Express DVD. I am getting back into consistently exercising, so some of this is new to me! A critique for me is I wish each DVD had a warm up and cool down section to avoid having to switch discs. That said, I enjoy the program and find it is a worthwhile investment. I also use the DVDs with the exercise schedule you can download from his website. - posted by Sharon on 8/9/2008
I love Gilad!
I bought this for my 17 yr old son and I find that I am also doing it pretty regularly in my rotation! Both DVD's have their own workout. If you want just weights, do disc 1. If you want a little cardio/balance/weights mixed in, do disc 2! We have a few other workouts by Gilad, and I look forward to trying them as well. I highly recommend this workout! - posted by Melanie on 6/16/2008
All round GREAT!
Fabulous pick your shorties or do as one workout.Excellent!Great DVD set if you have problem knees. Always the best instruction!! - posted by Mo on 5/14/2008
Lots of choices with this
This is my first Gilad video although I love his Total Body Sculpt workouts on Fit TV. I find I'm able to use it if am strapped for time or have the luxury of 90 minutes to w/o. Great cueing and scenery. Nothing boring about this one and he works you very hard! - posted by Marian on 4/25/2008
Great!!!
This is great when you are pressed for time... I love Gilad!!! His work outs are great & they are not that hard. Ive been working out with Gilad for many years & highly recommend his videos. - posted by Lanie on 3/30/2008
Excellent!
The express workouts from Gilad are excellent if you are pressed for time, or just don't want to spend an hour working out for one reason or another. Just choose as many or few of the 10 minute workouts you want to do and press play...easy and effective! Gilad's instruction is impeccable and the balcony setting is great to look at. If you like short workouts, or customizing your own workout time, this set is ideal! - posted by Adam on 3/28/2008
LOVED IT!!
I love everything Gilad comes out with and I only work out with dvd that feature a nice view like ocean or mountain. I can somehow get through the workout if I'm not concentrating on how hard I'm working. That being said, this is a wonderful workout with a lot of his signature moves and some new ones especially the abs, which I felt the next 2 days! His instruction is excellent and the workouts were so enjoyable I can't wait for his next one! He's so encouraging and professional. Money well spent as usual with Gilad! - posted by Sue on 3/8/2008
Excellent workout
I ordered this workout as soon as it became available. I did DVD 1 on Friday, DVD 2 today. The first DVD contains a lot of weighted segments, and the 2nd mostly cardio and abs. There are some moves in DVD 1 which are new, but many are familiar. The only thing I don't like is weighted moves on my knees. The cardio portions are kickboxing moves that I've seen from Gilad before, but I really enjoy them. The abs moves are something new to me and I enjoyed it (ouchie!). - posted by Barbara K on 3/2/2008
Awesome as usual
There is nobody better than Gilad. Another great set of workouts. You can do them in chapters or you can do them all at once. The chapters are designs to be short and intense-they are!.Do them all together and WOW. Great to add to the mix with the Quick fit system and Ultimate Body Sculpt! - posted by Jane on 2/29/2008
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
