Time graph for Jari Love's Get Ripped & Chiseled

Jari uses free weights, high reps and 2-3 targeted exercises to totally fatigue a single muscle group. This overload principle is a proven weight-training technique designed to break through fitness “plateaus.” You get 15 separate segments. Each one begins with a description of what’s coming — exercises, number of reps and weight levels (knowing what to expect, it’s easier to stay focused on the correct form). Then it’s 25 to 90 reps at varied tempos, positions and range-of-motions. The exercises are all classics like squats, lunges, bicep curls and overhead presses. As usual, Jari’s cuing is straight-forward and informative. Requires 5 to 20 lb. dumbbells; a barbell is optional. A step is also used as a weight bench. ©2006. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Jari Love's Get Ripped & Chiseled

Meh
This is not a workout I will use often. I really like Jari's RTTC and Ripped 1000, as they maintain a fairly consistent intensity throughout using compound movements. R and C, however, just peters out after the relatively short lower body session. I'm not a fan of the isolation exercises (for example, working the biceps alone): it gets boring really fast, and I don't think it's an effective use of my workout time. The lack of overall intensity sends my motivation to exercise out the window. As with Jari's other workouts, there is a lack of core/abs work, but I am used to supplementing with other core exercises. - posted by Claire on 10/20/2008
all I can say is WOW
I started losing weight by contolling food portions then started exercising more in order to not get flabby but I hit a serious plateau after about 18 pounds... I was just at the limit of a healty BMI but got stuck there for a while. I used this DVD three times in one week (with super light weights 2 and 3 lbs as I am starting out)and WOW in one week I lost 2 lbs and 1/2 on my bust, waist and hips. It's working and as well I really like her style of instruction. Highly recommended! - posted by Maria on 10/20/2008
Awesome workout
I bought this and the Get Ripped 1000 because I wanted a change, being mainly a weight lifter I wanted to try something different like using lighter weights and more reps. I could not believe it, I had to use 5lb dumbbells, and I was on fire. It was very humbling to say the least, I curl 25-30lb dumbbells at the gym and 5lb gave me more of a burn. I went and bought Slim and Lean and Ripped to the Core after doing this dvd, I fell in love. These will be a great addition to my workout regime for sure. Jari is awesome. - posted by KF on 10/1/2008
Simply ripped
This video is great with a few minor things I didn't like. I started doing Slim & Lean and To the Core ripped videos for a month, and then moved on to this one and ripped 1000. I thought it would be hard for me to get sore after doing the first two videos for a month, I was way wrong. This video is great, it makes your muscles shake and is a great challenge. The only thing I didn't really care for was the cool down. Jari talks to the other rippers about their fitness. I really just like to cool down with minimal talking, but other than that its a great video. I recommend it for the more advanced! - posted by Char on 9/14/2008
Jari is the best
I have been working out for several years and very fit but Jari's videos are absolutely transforming my body. The CHiseled video is my favourite. My legs burn and shake, my arms shake, I hurt the next day. BUT it's fantastic and showing me muscle and definition (with very quick and visible results). I also find that doing these videos I am a more efficient exerciser and less equals more. I am no longer a slave to cardio, I am getting PUMPED. - posted by Erica on 9/9/2008
Love Jari - she's the best!!
Tough !! Probably her toughest!! I like all of Jari's workouts, Thanks all your reviews and posts got me started! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because in some of the excersies she says last one and I stop - she really means the last one of that count. That said I can not get enough Ripped!! - posted by Megan on 9/5/2008
Chiseled Gets Five Stars!!
In response to critiques in user comments, it's important to understand that each Ripped workout serves different purposes, so that when all are used in a specific rotation schedule (available on the Jari Love/Ripped website), you receive the best total-body, sculpting and strengthening workout possible. Believe me--Jari & the team behind the Ripped series knew what they were doing when they put together each workout the way they did. I am an experienced triathlete and have used programs from BodyPump to bodybuilding, and I can't recommend this series enough. Throw yourself into it wholeheartedly, listen to the nutrition advice in the special features, and prepare to be amazed!!! - posted by Rachel on 9/4/2008
Excellent Upper Body Workout.
I LOVE the original Get Ripped, Hated S&L, and RTTC. I don't have 1000 as I don't like "Step" work. I only do all the upper body work as I use Pilates for my lower body. My god I am so sore doing this workout. I love the chapters so that I can just press the "next" button and skip the lunges, squats, and deadlifts easily. I usually use 5-10lbs (each hand) for the Original Ripped, I was still able to use 5-10 for some of the exercises, but there was one that I had to use my 2lb weights. I am always sore after this workout for 3 days, but I still use it every other day. - posted by Tania on 8/22/2008
Finally losing weight!
I am so happy to finally have the latest video! Since starting the program i've lost 25 pounds and counting. I love the intensity of chiseled....i'm sore after every workout! - posted by Connie on 8/10/2008
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
This workout is fabulous! With so many dvd's working the lower body it's a pleasant change to have more focus on the upper body. I use this dvd mainly when I want only an upper body workout and boy do I get one. I find it challenging and a different slant on some of the old favorites. Great job Jari keep 'em comin. - posted by Gracie on 8/5/2008

Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
