Time graph for Jennifer Kries' Yin Yoga
A very “new age” approach to yoga — all the movements are based on Meridian Theory (e.g. “the stomach/spleen merdian is about letting go”). It’s designed to calm your mind and stretch your muscles — not to actively “work” your body (in fact, Jennifer calls this an “unworkout”). Each section focuses on just 5 to 8 poses — variations of basic yoga and simple stretch movements. You’ll hold each pose for several minutes as you focus on a specific meridian (e.g. “this move affects the kidney bladder meridian”, “your gallbladder is where decision making comes from”). DVD also includes a 9-minute tutorial on Meridian Theory. ©2007. DVD has: Wide screen.

Jennifer Kries' Yin Yoga

Disappointed
There were several things I wish I'd known about this DVD before handing over my hard earned cash. First of all, this is not a new workout from Jennifer Kries. It's composed of segments from her previously released Hot Body Cool Minds series. Secondly, the poses are sequenced as more of a demonstration/instruction than as an actual workout. Each pose is held for less than a minute and Jennifer encourages you to hold them for up to 5-10 minutes on your own. Another factor to consider is that Jennifer talks A LOT, which is not conducive to yoga in general, and especially not to a yin yoga practice. Most of what she says is very interesting - she explains the different meridians each pose targets, modifications, etc - but most of her comments should have been reserved for the special Meridian Theory Interview included on the dvd. Between the abbreviated poses and Jennifer's constant yakking, I felt extremely distracted and hurried. "Unworkout" indeed. - posted by Martha on 7/5/2008
Great!!!!
I absolutely love this video. It is the true essence of relaxation. This is wayyy better than any other yoga video I own in terms of relaxing the mind and the body. It is very "New Agey" so if you are put off by that, be warned! However, this is a "Specialty" video and most likely the buyer realizes that. Jennifer is a very good instructor. - posted by Nydia on 5/11/2008
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.
