Time graph for Leslie Sansone's 3 Mile Walk
Super-basic movements that use optional light weights to sculpt your arms as they maximize fat-burning. Leslie Sansone’s contagious energy and non-stop enthusiasm keeps this all-sizes-and-shapes class having fun. You get three distinct segments (each one equal to one mile of outdoor walking). The first starts slowly and builds in intensity. The second is all fast paced; you’ll definitely blast some calories here (it’s led by Leslie’s assistant, so you get the same easy-to-follow movements, just with a little different style). The final section is slightly slower with more focus on upper-body toning. 2 to 6 lb. dumbbells or weighted balls are optional. ©2007. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Leslie Sansone's 3 Mile Walk

the 3-mile workout
For most part, I liked this workout routine but I felt that the 2nd mile instructed by Leslie's sister Mary Kay is far more interesting, creative and less repititious than Leslie's 1st and 3rd mile; she seems to repeat the same steps not only in this dvd but in the others that I have. Leslie could have used the hand weights more creatively and for longer duration in this workout routine. I am in very good shape and have been working out with Leslie's dvds for last 8-10 years and the repition of the steps finally got to me. I truly wish that before putting out a new workout dvd, Leslie would come up with new steps and put some thought into the workout. - posted by anjali on 11/10/2008
Easy and Fun
I am fairly new to exercising but I am already addicted to Leslie Sansone videos. She's cheesy but a lot of fun, and this is one of my favorite videos so far. I thought the three miles went by really fast, and I like the pace, particularly the fast pace of the second mile--it gets my heart rate up! It's very easy to follow (like all her videos) and low impact, which I really like--I don't like anything too dancy, or too jumpy, and this video fits the bill! - posted by Hannah on 10/19/2008
good, uncomplicated workout
This is my first walking video. I like the workout a lot; I like how long it is, how easy it is, and the intensity. It's exactly what I wanted. I could do with a little less talking and counting (my, she likes counting a lot!), and the few light Christian references, but the workout itself is great. Some of the other walkers are awfully smiley, which isn't bad, but I find myself appreciating Vance the more I watch it. I can see myself doing this video a lot; I've already done it four times in the past week. I, too, liked the second mile a lot; I was able to keep up, but just barely. - posted by Anjanette on 10/12/2008
I love the music in mile 1
I did mile 1 for the first time tonight - I really enjoyed the music and felt like I had a good workout. As many people say, Leslie's workouts are basically the same; that is why I think it is important to have quite a few - breaks up boredom with different walkers and different music. I thought mile 1 had a good steady pace and kept my heart rate up. I watched part of Mary Kay's mile - that looks pretty good also! - posted by Donna D. on 9/30/2008
Love it!
I'm 37, a returning exerciser, and have become such a fan of Leslie dvd's. I loved this one too. Quick, effective, and the hand weights are a terrific addition and change of pace. - posted by Annie on 9/2/2008
Great DVD to Get That Heart Rate Up!
Yet, another wonderful DVD from Leslie Sansone that really gets the heart rate up! I regularly use this DVD in my Leslie rotation and go to this one when I have the time for three fast-paced miles. Thanks to Leslie, I am down 40 pounds thus far - 50 more to go! At 52 years old, I can get through this DVD with no problem and get a superb workout. Thanks, Leslie! - posted by Marlene on 8/31/2008
FAST AND FUN
I have most of Leslie's Videos. I just love her style and will continue to buy them. This is faster paced than most of the others and makes a nice change. - posted by Gisela on 8/11/2008
Good- but all her workouts are basically the same
This is a good workout, but I have 4 of her dvds and they are about 95% alike. You need to get other dvds so you wont get bored. Prevention has a good variety. I wish I had known this about her before I bought the others. - posted by barbara on 7/8/2008
Good Workout
This is a good workout for burning calories, however, I didn't feel that the upper body toning used enough reps with the hand weights to really tone your arms. I had to end the workout with pushups to really give my arms and shoulders a workout. But I enjoyed this one, and I needed a new one to alternate with her Walk Slim 4 Fast Miles so that I don't get bored with them. But I will have to rely on other toning workouts in order to work my upper body. - posted by Corenne on 6/24/2008
Great music, fun and fast paced
I just completed this workout and I really enjoyed it! The music was fast paced and fun and I felt like I got a really good workout. I think that Mary Kay did excellent. I will definitely be adding this workout to my rotation regularly. - posted by Slim on 6/20/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
