Time graph for Leslie Sansone's Walk & Firm with Intervals
A straight-forward interval program that comes with a resistance band. By alternating short segments of aerobics and toning, your heart rate stays up while you sculpt your upper and lower body. Like a personal trainer, Leslie teaches one-on-one — she’s totally focused on you (“this is nice, just you and me”). The cardio sections feature Leslie’s usual easy-to-follow, walking-style movements. The toning intervals use the band to intensify classic body sculptors like squats, lunges, bicep curls and rows. The DVD also includes a 23-minute, seniors-oriented bonus workout (that was earlier released as Leslie’s “One Mile Walk for Active Adults”). Includes 5-foot band. ©2007.

Thighs were burning
Wow she really does it in this one. My thighs were so sore after this video, I would recommend not doing all of the lunges the first time, mine hurt for 3 days after lol... This is a great video and it's different then the others, will never bore of this one... - posted by Jess on 11/12/2008
Really does the Job!!
I'm a big Leslie fan and I found myself getting into a rut. I was so happy with this video. I loved how she changed up the moves and I liked the firming band. You cannot go wrong with this one. Also, as a previous poster stated it's nice to have her by herself. Another good one!!I'm addicted to walk away the pounds... - posted by Pamela on 11/3/2008
Wonderful Workout and Resistance Band is a Plus!
I have been using Leslie Sansone videos for a long time and was not disappointed with this one. The pace is fast enough to get a very good workout. Bundling the resistance band with the DVD was a nice touch and saved me from having to buy one separately. I've learned that circuit-training builds and tones muscles and burns more calories than straight aerobics and that muscles burn calories even while we are asleep. Using the band will help tone my muscles and I know that will ultimately mean more calories burned. I'm very pleased! - posted by Bee on 8/29/2008
Love it!
This is the 4th Leslie video I've tried, and love 3 of them, including this. It's a nice change of pace to workout with her one on one; still very motivating but not quite as chatty as her other dvd's. I really like the interval-style workout, but that's a personal preference. The resistance band sections were great; I wouldn't mind doing a couple more of the arm reps, but the lunges were plenty challenging! This is a good workout in only 33 min. I'd say the only downside was that her cueing had a little less advanced warning in some spots, but if you are accustomed to Leslie's moves, you'll pick it up quickly. Not that big of a deal. This one's a keeper! - posted by Rita on 8/18/2008
Leslie Shakes Things Up!
I'm glad I purchased this one. I like the different set and the fact that Leslie is alone on this dvd. That keeps her more focused on the walking instead of the chatting. I like the intervals with the bits of jogging and the intervals with the resistance band. I was NOT expecting to get worn out on some of the exercises, but whew!, a few of them were tough, so I felt like I got a lot out of it. I wish though that the resistance band work would have come more frequently during the video and for shorter periods of time in order to keep the heart rate up. But no matter, still love it anyway. - posted by Stacey on 7/5/2008
THIS dvd is fantastic
I love this DVD. I have another one of hers, plus a very old VHS tape of hers from years ago. She is great and not annoying as someone else commented. I would recommend this - and I'm very much a beginner. But, I really look forward to doing her workout. - posted by Heather on 5/3/2008
Effective and Quick
This is a short workout that includes both walking (this includes "boosted" walking or jogging) and toning w/the band. I keep this in my regular rotation. - posted by Lisa on 4/9/2008
good addition
I did this one for the 1st time. It really works you in the 30 minutes time. Interval training really shakes up your exercise routine. Leslie is chatty, motivating, and puts you through your paces. A good addition to my dvd exercise stable. - posted by vanessa on 1/26/2008
A Nice Change
This is a great video! I have been doing Leslie Sansone videos for a while. It was nice to see her alone and not as perky as usual. The resistance band was a nice touch. - posted by Amy on 1/22/2008
Beginner
I was surprised to see this rated as a beginner to intermediate workout. The walking is "boosted" at times (Leslie speak for jogging) and the toning exercises, though brief, are challenging with the band. This is a great cardio-toning workout when you're short on time. - posted by Diane on 1/20/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
