Time graph for Leslie's Fast & Firm: 4 Really Big Miles
An indoor, walking-style fat-burner that builds in intensity. You can start with the first segment and gradually work your way to a higher fitness level (each of the four “miles” gets faster and more challenging). As always, Leslie’s enthusiasm is inspiring and her choreography is easy to follow. The first two segments are classic Walk Aerobics — just four basic moves: marches, kicks, side-steps and step-touches. The third mile speeds it up with gentle jogging and simple grapevines. The final segment uses an optional resistance band to tone your upper body as it boosts the cardio effectiveness. Includes some recognizable vocal hit songs (e.g. “Everybody Dance Now”). A 5-foot resistance band is optional. ©2007. DVD has: Chapter menus, Close captions.

Leslie's Fast & Firm: 4 Really Big Miles

I thought it couldn't be better than some others she has....
This one lives up to the ratings. It was a lot of fun, a good workout and I am so glad she included lots of boosts in the third mile. What is great about Leslie's workouts is that really you can always use them, even when super fit, because all you have to do is convert to a jumping movement, or a boosted movement. I do this frequently and it is awesome. I like Leslie a lot, and I think she is super genuine. - posted by Kristen on 11/11/2008
Love Walk & Slim - 4 Really Big Miles!
You move so many more muscles with Leslie and with each DVD she comes out with, she improves upon the fitness style. This one includes boosted walking, which helps break weight loss plateau and has the firm band. I used to go walking in the park at a nice speed, but as I aged, I needed firming up around the waistline. Regular walking does not tone the waistline, you get great legs! Leslie Sansone is such much better than the treadmill!! My college age daughter uses Leslie with her roomates, they love Leslie! She like me has the two 4 miles (2007 & 2008) and the 3 mile weight loss (2008). - posted by Old Lady on 10/8/2008
Right On, Leslie!
I have almost all of Leslie's tapes and DVDs, even from her very early days! I don't do as much walking as I used to, since I really love kickboxing and cardio routines more now. But Leslie has a few gems and this is one. The miles go fast, the workout is great, and you will burn lots of calories. I always wear a heart rate monitor and I burned more on this workout than some of her other great workouts. I just have one request: Leslie, can you PLEASE find some new music. I think every loyal fan of yours is sick of that song "Everybody" - though you do have a sense of humor about it when it comes on. This is a Leslie DVD worth the investment! - posted by Robin K on 9/27/2008
I cannot believe it!
Wow! I tried this for the first time today and I am shocked! I always thought these workouts really couldn't do the job, but I am a changed person now! I can't wait to go for more! Very doable, gets your heart rate up and keeps it up! I felt great, energized and better than if I had done one of my dance type videos!! Great buy - posted by BB on 9/26/2008
Great Workout!
I love this workout. I normally run for 45 minute 5 times a week and this is just as challenging. - posted by Deb on 9/26/2008
Another Positive Review!!
~I REALLY like this DVD from Leslie! I have one of her older 3-mile WATP sets and found the pace too slow after a week of use. 4 Fast Miles is simply perfect. The pace is fast and just want I needed and I am not bored with the DVD. I get a great workout out and find it makes me sweat a lot. I am glad that I gave Leslie another try because I think she "hit this one out of the ballpark". Since I am returning to exercise after a long break, I've not worked up to the 4 miles yet but look forward to always exercising with the DVD and eventually I will work up to completing the entire 4 miles. This one is a winner! - posted by Kina on 9/20/2008
I Love It!
I love this video. I'm a young woman, but I've always had bad knees. So finding a workout were I can get a good sweat without hurting my joints was difficult. But this video fits the bill perfectly. I'm able to get a great sweat, protect my joints, and have fun. I will admit that Leslie can be a little chatty. But I feel that she's sincere and wants to motivate us to keep going. Overall doing this video makes me feel good about myself. - posted by Shani on 9/15/2008
PHENOMENAL!
I have just about "ALL" of her walking tapes (making me an advanced walker), but this one really stands out (too chatty as usual - but I digress). As she states on this tape "if you don't loose weight, you really are eating to much". I have been using this tape for 4 consecutive weeks and the results are AWESOME! Comments, after comment after comment as to how great I look! I am almost at my weight loss goal thanks to this workout and once I have succeeded in reaching my plateaue I will continue to use this one. - posted by Amanda on 9/15/2008
I love it!
Gosh, what can I say about this DVD!!! Leslie just gets better & better. I love the addition of the firming band. She has made an effort to improve the walking/toning experience with each new DVD she comes out with. I have some of her DVD's from 2000 - 2008. I consider myself intermediate/advance walker who incorporates strength training 3x week as part of my health routine. This DVD has me sweating during the 3rd mile...which is only 10mins, but the heart rate is a pumping! I get many compliments on how good my body looks for my age. Strength training & Leslie's DVD's go good together to avoid the middle age spread. Good Job Leslie - posted by doreen on 9/10/2008
If only I could mute Leslie...
This is my 1st Leslie video and I really liked it a lot more than I thought I would. If only I could mute her....she never shuts up but I guess you get used to it after awhile. This is a good continuous low intensity workout. I like that it doesn't take up much room and there are no complicated steps to learn. - posted by Ashley on 9/8/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
