Time graph for Michelle Dozois' Rockin' Body Cardio Jam
Six complete cardio intervals that each use totally different moves. They all start slowly, build in intensity and end with a “burst” (so you can really push yourself because you know a “resting” segment will come up next). The movement diversity combined with the tempo variations are sure to keep you motivated and challenged. Nothing fancy, these athletic-style moves are easy to follow and familiar — from pony steps and lunges to kickboxing and “football feet.” Michelle Dozois is a pro — her cue-ahead instruction is clear; her energy is invigorating. DVD also has a pre-mixed 31-minute workout version. ©2007. DVD has: 1 premix (31-min. alternate workout), Chapter menus.

Michelle Dozois' Rockin' Body Cardio Jam

Painfully boring!
I have other Michelle Dozois DVDs that I enjoy and was excited to get this one after reading the reviews. I wasn't expecting it to kick my butt, but to be different, fun, and an enjoyable workout to burn a good amount of calories. It was none of the above. I have a very diverse fitness DVD collection that includes Leslie Sansone, Cathe, Prevention Fitness, Crunch, ect, and I would rather stick to one of those instead of having to repeat this one again. The background is dark! Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but the wardrobe colors blend in so some of the exercisers don't stand out. The filming is foggy. I saw this on the collage video clip, but didn't expect it to be as bad as it was. Again, I wasn't expecting to get a Cathe-style workout, but at least burn an average amount of calories. In 30 minutes (too boring to complete) I only burned 132 calories. I can burn twice that with Leslie's most recent DVDs in the same amount of time and actually enjoy my workout. I too thought the moves were dancy, even in the "kickboxing" segments. Even the cool-down consisted of a dance-like routine. I prefer the cool downs that do just that (ie Cathe & Leslie). Not an issue for those that enjoy that, but I don't. I personally think that this DVD is a waste of time and money. I would much rather work out doing something I love, then constantly watching my clock waiting for the misery to end. I will be selling my copy and buying a worth-while DVD. - posted by Julia on 11/18/2008
Fun and Versatile Workout
I love Michelle and crew. The moves are fun and easy to learn, there is a great 30 minute option for a shorter workout, and a modifier you can follow to stay completely low impact. Lots of fun, I love this one! - posted by Elaine on 10/8/2008
good workout but not fun
I am an intermediate-advanced exerciser with years of experience. There were lots of things I liked about this workout: good music; lots of variety; encouraging instructor. I worked up quite a sweat: this was a great aerobic challenge for me. Each of the separate segments went by quickly: the pacing was excellent (harder-easier). But there were lots of things I did not like. The set and costumes are unappealing (brown-rust tones: maybe this looked better in person). Many of the moves are hard to do on carpet. There was an unco-ordinated 'feel' to some of the steps. I am not sure whether I will keep this DVD: but if I do, I know I would reserve it for days when I have tons of patience AND want an intense aerobic workout. - posted by Bertha on 10/6/2008
Okay, but not my favorite
I am a fairly coordinated person, but even though this workout is listed as having "basic" choreography, I found it to be difficult to catch onto right away. Michelle does a great job explaining each move, but you don't repeat the moves enough to really get it stamped into your brain before moving on to other moves. It's fairly "dancy", and I am more of a step aerobics person. I don't feel it gets my heart rate up as high as other aerobic workouts I have done. To Michelle's credit, she is a great instructor: very motivated and encouraging, and everyone looks like they are having a really good time working out. I do like the fact that there is a 30min. express version of the workout in case you are short on time. I have to admit, I've only done this workout twice, so I'm sure with repeated use it would get easier for me to follow the choreography and get a better workout, but I have other DVDs I have more fun with that get my heart rate going more than this one. - posted by Lisa on 9/15/2008
One of my Favs
I am hardcore Cathe/Jari Love exerciser -- but sometimes a girl just needs some cardio. I do NOT like highly complicated choreography -- like some of Cathe's. This is very different and fun. I got it completely after a few run throughs. Now I find that I pick it regularly for aerobics only. - posted by Linda on 9/10/2008
This is a Keeper!
I did this video for the first time this morning and LOVE it! I consider myself to be an intermediate/advance exerciser and found this one to be a fun challenge. The workout is broken into sections, so it is not repetitive. It took me a few minutes to catch on to the moves, but once I caught on, they were easy to perform. I would sum this one up as a great and fun sweat-fest! - posted by Jennifer on 8/22/2008
Took a while to catch on with me
I've had this dvd for a few months, previewed it several times, did it halfway through 1 time, finally completed it yesterday. It took me so long to complete because I felt the cuing was bad, so I needed more than an hour to get through it. Finally completing it, though, I have to say I did enjoy it, so I give it 4 stars. - posted by Barbara on 7/2/2008
*Not my style
I really like some of Michelle's other dvds that I got from Collage (Shape Bikini Body and 10 Minute Solution Carb Burner) so I was really looking forward to this one. However, like some other reviewers I found the cueing was off. I like to work out at the intermediate level and prefer basic moves more than the "dancey" steps she uses. At least they seemed dancey to me. I tried to follow it but ended up tripping over myself and not getting a good workout. So I returned the dvd. I bought Star Trainers Cardio at the same time as this one and really like it. It's much more my style of strong basic moves and a good hard workout. - posted by E on 6/12/2008
Definitely Intermediate
Collage's rating of this DVD is spot on. I was hoping it would be more challenging (like Michelle's Best Body Circuit which is much more intense in every way). I love Michelle as an instructor and find her to be very pleasant and motivating, but I couldn't get my heartrate into the zone where I feel like I am working hard enough with Rockin' Cardio Jam. I also found that while the segments had plenty of moves that were fun, that each segment became repetitive and I was ready to move on to different moves before the end of each segment. I sometimes do just the cardio portion from Michelle's Best Body Circuit as an add on to another workout I am doing for that day. I feel that the cardio from BBC, while shorter, gets my heartrate into the proper zone for me to feel I am getting enough of a workout. I will keep this for lighter days, and there are definitely advantages to doing steady-state cardio that is moderate, so it will work for me sometimes. If you are intermediate, this one will probably be somewhat challenging, but for advanced exercisers, this one is moderate. - posted by B on 6/4/2008
Absolutely Love It!
I ordered quite a few workout DVDs not too long ago. I still haven't tried all of them out. This was the first one I tried and I haven't quite moved on from it. It is great! I love the music and the cardio routines. I second time I did the video, I had the moves down, so they are not hard to follow. This workout is actually fun and it makes you feel alive and energetic while you are doing it. This all comes from Michelle's personality. She is not bubbly (hate that), but she is very upbeat and makes encouraging remarks throughout the workout. Plus, this is definitely for all levels. You can really go for it or not. I'm very pleased that I tried this one out. It's a must have! - posted by Christine on 5/9/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
