Time graph for The Biggest Loser: Cardio Max
Led by “The Biggest Loser” trainers, it’s a varied medley of calorie-blasting aerobic exercises. The programmable DVD lets you play any segment in any order. Or, you can choose one of the three progressively more challenging premixes (e.g. a 30-minute Level 1 program or a 50-minute level 3 workout). Bob Harper’s bootcamp segment features overhead arms and lots of full-body moves (it even includes optional dumbbells to boost intensity). Then it’s Jillian Michaels’ high-intensity, sports/athletic drills. Finally, Kim Lyons maximizes the fat-burning with non-stop kickboxing routines. You’re sure to be motivated by the trainers and by the exercisers — successful TV show contestants from seasons 3 and 4. ©2007. DVD has: 3 premixes (30 to 50-min. alternate workouts), Programmable chapters, Music only option, Region 1.

The Biggest Loser: Cardio Max

A cardio Mess!!!
I would not recommend this DVD to beginners or people who need motivation. I really wish I had been this website before I bought this DVD. I love the show (TBL) and the trainers (Bob & Jillian) but they still lack the expertise of making a good motivational and substantial DVD. Like other reviewers mentioned, it's hard to follow when the people in the back are not in sync. Bob moves around a lot and it a bit annoying with his camera close ups. I feel like I wasted my money again, the first time when I bought Jillian Michaels "The complete workout for beginners"(very unimpressive) and now again with "Cardio Max". They really need to learn how to make exercise DVD's because this is not cutting it, it is a mess. I'm giving this one 3 stars because at least it wasn't filmed with a white back drop (thanx Jillian). - posted by J Martell on 9/28/2008
Warning!
I'm posting again, but I cannot stress enough how tough this is on the knees. I am not a beginner at all, and I blew out my right knee. If I try again, I'm only doing lunges on a step and no flying lunges. - posted by Robin Again on 9/12/2008
Love this workout - but it's not for beginners
The section with Bob is probably one of my favorite workouts at all time. To me, it could have been the only workout on the dvd, and it would have been worth the money. I can understand why some people wouldn't like it (it's not dancey, and frilly), but if you want to work 'personal trainer style), this is the workout for you. I can't comment much on the Jillian and Kim sections. I only did them once each, and they didn't make much of an impression. - posted by GR on 9/4/2008
Helpful note
For those not understanding the levels - you are supposed to ADD ON as you progress - do the first level for a while, then move up to levels one and two in the same session, and then do all three. Not switch from level one to just level two to just level three. ;) - posted by Nicole on 8/28/2008
Awful
I bought it thinking it would be good for beginners. Wrong! The other reviewers were right in that Bob's cueing is awful. Bob is running around talking to everyone and none of the real life exercisers have good form. I try to pick one person to follow, even the modified exercise and I can't really follow it. I need the instructor to show me what I need to do, not just do it once then walk away. And my knees are pretty bad and there are a lot of lunges. The program kicked my tail within 8 minutes and I worked at it for 4 days. I would need to be far more advanced in my routines and know proper form before I could use this program. - posted by Felicia on 7/20/2008
Tougher Than I Expected
I consider myself Intermediate/Advanced. Did this in a quasi hot room and found it really challenging. I did not expect all the lunges and other moves that pressured the knees. I thought workouts designed for the morbidly obese would be easier on the joints. If you have knee issues (like me) be prepared. - posted by Robin on 7/3/2008
LOVE Cardio Max
I started off as unable to do much of anything, and in short order I got in gear and love all this video has to offer. I is incredibly flexible in that it offers three levels that can be cued up in any order to give you the workout that you have time for or are up too. - posted by Kathryn on 6/8/2008
Bob is annoying, cueing is awful but the moves will make you sweat.
I'm glad there's an option to listen to music only with no instructor because I will use it once I know the moves well enough. All 3 instructors mock the poor background exercisers, with Bob being the most annoying among them. The cueing is also pretty sad but the moves are basic enough to learn after a few times through, and you will SWEAT, PANT and WORK which is what it takes to get in shape. I can only give it 3 stars due to the poor instruction but I'll be keeping it and doing it again anyway because it's a good workout. - posted by Lianne on 6/1/2008

I was really surprised by this video. I love that there are real people doing the exercises. It encourages you to keep going. I was amazed that for days after I was still feeling the burn. Loved this video. - posted by jessi on 5/15/2008
Fun Intermediate Level Workout!
I love this workout because you can mix-and-match segments. I was pretty disappointed with The Biggest Loser 2 because of the slow pace, so I really like the fast pace of Cardio Max and Bob and Jillian's segments got my heartrate up. I don't mind that the background exercisers are not in sync or on the same beat with the instructor. Just like working out in an aerobics class in the gym, not everyone is on the same beat. I find Kim's segment to be the easiest. I wish to see longer segments of Bob and Jillian in the next DVD. Fun workout! - posted by Cheryl on 5/8/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Programmable chapters
X
At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
