Time graph for The Firm: Total Body Time Crunch

You get alternating intervals of dumbbell-toning and very fast-paced cardio. This is the legendary “Firm” format; it’s designed to shape your body as it burns fat. Each effectively sequenced segment includes a motivating mix of subtle tempo/movement variations (so they’re interesting and easy to follow). This program’s aerobic segments raise your heart rate with a variety of interesting add-on combinations. The toning sections also feature add-on cuing and fast-changing, multi-muscle combinations (e.g. a bicep and overhead press combined with a squat and backward-lunge series). In both cases, you’ll start with a basic exercise, then progressively incorporate multiple-muscle moves (while always keeping your heart rate elevated). Classic Firm-style cuing — precise and no-nonsense. This DVD also includes a premixed 25-minute version of the same workout. Requires two sets of dumbbells (e.g. 3 lb. and 5 lb.). ©2007. DVD has: 1 premix (25-min.alternate workout).

The Firm: Total Body Time Crunch

Great Workout!
I have tried many different fitness DVDs and this is my favorite Firm workout. I work out 5 days a week and this one has great variety. Cardio and scuplting. It's a perfect addition to my large collection! I hope to see many more workouts like this one from The Firm! - posted by Kelli on 11/12/2008
I keep coming back!!!
I've had this video for awhile now but never wrote a review. I just did it again and still love it. It always gets my heart rate up and I'm sore the next day if I haven't done it in awhile. Great use of 45 min. I feel like I've really gotten both a good cardio and weight workout. - posted by cc on 10/29/2008
This is a must!
Great workout!I would see this workout displayed somewere else and NEVER wanted to buy ANY OF THE NEW WORKOUTS!Bcuz I didn't want the pinks weights. But after looking at this workout here I actually kept coming back to it,I finally decided to buy it(without pink weights).I'm soooooooooo glad I did! Its new and refresing,Rebekah is great and the workout is tuff!I've been Firming since 2001 and I'm Love the new workouts! The Cardio sections have improved alot from previous BSS's.Go for it! - posted by Teri N. on 10/23/2008
Good, but....
I picked this one because I like having a shorter version of a full-length workout, but I wish I'd known that the "Express" option here is toning only - none of the cardio segments are mixed in. I enjoy it as a full-length workout when I have time, though. - posted by Jess on 10/21/2008
my new favourite!
I love this workout! I'm intermediate in my cardio fitness level, but quite new to weight lifting, so I just used light weights at first but am now switching to medium weights. I think this dvd is both tough and fun with good music and a great variety of moves so you don't get bored. I understand some people are put off by the choreography and okay, it takes awhile to get the moves right (at first I was all over the place!) but I've done it 7 times now and can get through the whole workout without making any mistakes - which is very satisfying! I like Rebekah too, she's motivating without being cheesy and you can see she is enthusiastic about the workout. I think her ques are good but you have to kind of know what's coming next - which only happens after you've gone through it a few times. I think if you want a tough but fun workout and if, like me, you get bored easily then this dvd will challenge you and keep your attention. This one will definitely keep me going for a long time! :) - posted by Evelyn on 10/20/2008
TOO EASY
I thought this workout was too easy to be in the intermediate to advanced category. I tend to use it on a light day for some toning and relaxed cardio. I prefer The Firm's Boot Camp Maximum Cardio Burn and Ultimate Fat Burning. - posted by Andrea on 10/15/2008
Doesn't get any better than this
I love, love, love this video. You get a heart-pumping total body workout in 45 minutes. My muscles were screaming after the first time doing this and I've been doing Firm videos for 8 years. The cardio looks so easy, but it really gets my heart rate up. I can't say enough about how much I love this video. I wish there were more like it!! - posted by Gigi on 10/3/2008
FABULOUS!
This is my second Rebekah workout that i have purchased and i think she may be my new favorite! I love this workout the cardio sections are challenging and fast moving while the toning sections hit all body parts! Its under an hour and when im finished i feel like i ve gotten a very good workout! I cant wait for her new workout coming in december, hopefully its as good as her past two have been. Highly reccomend this one! - posted by Dana on 9/26/2008
good cardio toning mix
While some of the cardio moves are a little hard to follow, overall it is a very good workout with good moves. It mixes approx 7 min cardio, 7 min toning throughout the workout. The cardio has good moves, and when I cant follow, I do my own. - posted by barbara on 9/25/2008
Love it!
I always come back to this Firm DVD when I want a really good workout. I enjoy Rebekah Sturkie's workouts because I find her so motivating with her personality and body, and I find her workouts the most challenging of all the newer Firm DVDs. Total Body Time Crunch has a really good mix of simple to follow yet killer cardio sections and thorough weight sections. Yes, Rebekah does mess up in one bit when she uses the wrong foot when lunging but it's nice to see she's only human! The abs section is outstanding and by the end I always feel like my body's had a tremendous workout. I wasn't overly keen on the express option because it's only weights but at around 45 minutes long, I can usually fing the time to do the whole workout. Highly recommend this DVD! - posted by Gwen on 9/9/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
